Industry Robbed Because of Piracy
Crimes are everywhere. You would think that perhaps it is an exaggeration to consider piracy as a crime but actually it is. Piracy is an unauthorised duplication and reproduction of data content from a master source to a blank disc. As of the time being, many from the music and movie industry are suffering because of this malpractice and illegal CD/DVD duplication. Imminent downfall and loss of revenue are just few of the major effects piracy had cost to the people who work hard for their craft and yet being robbed by people behind this wrong doing.
Based on the statistics, percentage of piracy increased year after year as many people learned the process of CD/DVD duplication illegally. Although authorities are doing their best to stop this crime, it is very hard to pinpoint who are those copyright violators. Anyone can do CD/DVD duplication, anytime and anywhere even at the comfort of anyone’s home. Simple paraphernalia like a CD burner, blank media and some knowledge in hacking would be enough to start on doing CD/DVD duplication illegally. Actually, authority also blamed those websites who offer free movie and music download in the increase of piracy crimes today. People are tempted to download this free stuff not just for them but to the market as well.
But in the end, no matter what we do and what kind of protection we use for our craft just to avoid being a victim of piracy, it will still depends on how the market see the true meaning of piracy. If people will patronize pirated CDs or DVDs over those copyrighted ones, then I guess there is really nothing we could do. It could be really tempting especially if you compare prices but what lies beneath that is the fact that the quality could be below standard or much lower. What else could you expect in a duplication process done illegally, right?
